First-Principles Study on Stability and Magnetism of NimAln (m = 1–3, n = 1–9) Clusters

چکیده
The investigation on the structures, stabilities, and magnetism of Ni(m) Al(n) (m = 1-3, n = 1-9) clusters has been made by using first principles. We found some new ground-state structures which had not been found before. These mixed species prefer to adopt three-dimensional (3D) structures starting from four atoms. All the ground-state structures for the Ni-Al clusters are different from those of the corresponding pure Al clusters with the same number of atoms except for three atoms. The Mulliken population analysis shows that some charges transfer from the Al atoms to the Ni atoms. NiAl n (n = odd number) cations, Ni(2)Al(6) neutral, Ni(2)Al(1) and Ni(3)Al cations and anions, and Ni(3)Al(5) anion have the magnetic moments of 2 μ B. The magnetic moments of NiAl(4) and NiAl(6) cluster neutrals and cations are 2 μ B and 3 μ B, respectively. All the other cluster neutrals and ions do not have any nontrivial magnetic moments. The 3d electrons in Ni atoms are mainly responsible for the magnetism of the mixed Ni-Al clusters.

Magnetic MoS2 pizzas and sandwiches with Mnn (n = 1–4) cluster toppings and fillings: A first-principles investigation
The inorganic layered crystal (ILC) MoS2 in low dimensions is considered as one of the most promising and efficient semiconductors. To enable the magnetism and keep intrinsic crystal structures, we carried out a first-principles study of the magnetic and semiconductive monolayer MoS2 adsorbed with the Mnn (n = 1-4) clusters, and bilayer MoS2 intercalated with the same clusters. Geometric optimi...

In this research DFT/B3LYP method has been employed to investigate the geometrical structures, relative stabilities, and electronic properties of Cun (n=3–10) clusters for clarifying the effect of sizeon the properties. Through a careful analysis of the successive binding energies, second-orderdifference of energy and the highest occupied-lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy gaps as afunct...
متن کاملInsights into the structural, electronic and magnetic properties of V-doped copper clusters: comparison with pure copper clusters
The structural, electronic and magnetic properties of Cun+1 and CunV (n = 1-12) clusters have been investigated by using density functional theory. The growth behaviors reveal that V atom in low-energy CunV isomer favors the most highly coordinated position and changes the geometry of the three-dimensional host clusters. The vibrational spectra are predicted and can be used to identify the grou...
متن کاملMagnetic properties of Cu(m)O(n) clusters: a first principles study.
Experimental evidence shows that small Cu(2)O nanoparticles exhibit ferromagnetic or paramagnetic properties, allowing for the promising possibility to recycle the catalyst Cu(2)O easily in wastewater treatment. In this paper, theoretical calculation studying the magnetic property of copper/oxide clusters is reported. A series of Cu(m)O(n) ((m, n) = (4, 1); (4, 2); (4, 5); (16, 15); (28, 15); (...

In this study, the geometries of the [SiNinHn]q and [SiCunHn]q clusters, (n = 4,5,6 and q = 0,+1,-1) complexes have been optimized to form complexes with four, five and six planar and nonplanarsubstituents, with negative, neutral or positive atomic charge, using Density FunctionalTheory (DFT) at B3LYP/6-311+G (3df, p) computational level and then their thermodynamicstability were investigated b...
